The Open European Quilt Championships 2009 are held in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. This weekend, April 30th - May 3rd,(
http://www.oeqc.eu/) a car full of creative enthusiastic women headed 100 km south to get inspired! The theme this year is"'Magic". 153 quilts were hanging in the competition as well as many other quilts by guest artists/quilters!
"Dancing Teapots" 132 x 132 cm. Nederland.
Inspired from an item in the Quilters Newsletter Magazine
"More than meets the Eye" 100 x 100 cm. England.
"This Iris is the favourite flower in my garden in Somerset, England. The design is based on my own photographs of my garden iris bed. The title comes from Rudyard Kipling's poem 'The Glory of the Garden'".
"Zomerzicht" 115 x 95 cm. Nederland.
"The paintings by Ton Schulten were the inspiration for this design. The colours give me a good feeling."
So many! This one is out of a series and was not in the competition.
There were traditional to modern quilts, classic fabrics to whatever could be sewn together. Three hours just flew by. We already have the date for next year in the agenda: 29 April - 2 May 2010! The theme will be "Rhythm".
